Mas Oyama Open Championship
Armenia,Yerevan, 29 november, 2009
A Mas Oyama Open Championship was held in Armenia. National teams from Georgia and Iran participated in event. Total number of participants was 80 - children, youth and adults. A joint training was conducted with Iranian team, as well the Iranians displayed a show program.

Summer Camping in Hankavan
August 10-15, 2009
From August 10 to 15 in premises of recreational centre “Marmarik” the traditional Summer Camp of Oyama Kyokushinkai Karate Federation was held.
The Kyokushinkai fans gathered amid picturesque surroundings of live nature and mountains. Students and teachers at various age and experience arrived to Hankavan from different parts of Armenia as well as Russia to coach together and to gain more experience. The schedule was tense and rich - the trainings were held thrice a day. Since 7 o’clock the participants were running, playing sport games, they made trips to forests and climbed the mountains. The traditional Summer Camp concluded with farewell party “Suyonaroy”.

Ashihara Budokai seminar

The ordinary seminar of Ashhara Karate was held in Yerevan on July 28, 2009. The seminary was instructed by Oganes Anayan – the representative of the Russian Federation for Knockdown Karate. During the seminar the basic technique of Ashhara Karate was demonstrated.
The Ashhara karatae was founded by the renowned master Hideuki Ashihara, who for himself was the disciple of legendary Masutatsu Oyama and for a pretty long time developed the Kyokushinkai Karate. In 1980 he created his own style – the Ashhara Karate. Photo Gallery .... |
Novosibirsk International Tournament
On May 30-31, 2009 in Novosibirsk city, Russia in the sport building “Sever” (”North”) the 1Бst International Tournament of Kyokushinkai Karate for the VTEK Corporation Cup was held. The organizers did their best for the tournament to pass on highest level and succeed in their efforts. Both the organizational aspect and the mastery of participants were just perfect.
The Armenia National team took part in tournament under the guidance of the Head of Armenian Federation of Kyokushinkai Karate - Karen Zhamkochyan. There were 3 participants in Armenian Team – Gevork Jraghatspanyan - 1st Dan, competing in 70 kg category, David Navoyan - 1st Dan, competing in 80 kg category and David Babayan- 1st Kyu, competing in 80 kg category.

Caucasus Championship
On May 23, 2009 the regular Caucasus Championship of Kyokushinkai Karate took place in Tbilisi, Georgia. 120 sportsmen from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan participated in the event.
The Armenian Team was presented with 7 members. Among them Erik Karapetyan, Hrachya Karapetyan, Babken Hovannisyan and Hayk Vardumyan won the 1st Prizes and became Champions of Caucasus. Hayk Karapetyan took the 2nd Prize and David Hovannisyan was successful for winning the 3rd Prize.

Seminar
April 13, 2009
On the next day of the tournament, Shihan Nodar
Kvanchiani (5-dan) gave a seminar to the Georgian and Armenian students.
Shihan Nodar joyously transferred his knowledge and emphasized the
fundamental exercises of tachikata and kihon, which are the most
important parts of karate.

armenian open CHAMPIONSHIP
12 april 2009 yerevan
In Yerevan City, 80 pupils from different areas,
and representing various martial arts organizations, participated
in the Armenian Open Karate Championship. Among those who participated
was the Georgian team headed by Shihan Nodar Kvanchiani. Also present
were students from the Armenian Jeet Kune Do Federation headed by
Artyusha Khandoyan. Also in attendance were students from the I.K.O.
Matsushima Federation headed by Karen Zhamkochyan. Those in attendance
were treated to a special performance by the Milen Show Ballet led

Examination
March 15, 2009
In Yerevan City, thirty people from different
regions of Armenia were certified today in kyokushinkai karate.
Among them was Gevorg Jraghatspanyan from the city of Gyumri who
passed the examination for Shodan-1 and and successfully passed
all requirements of the organization. According to the head of the
federation, these examinations demonstrate sucessively higher levels
of expertise of those pupils who pass them. The examinations are
designed to increase skill, strength, and stamina. Sensei Karen
Zhamkochyan only admits those pupils with the potential to reach
the highest levels of karate. As a result, the number of students
is small, but of the highest caliber. Photo

ARMAVIR
On November 11, 2008 a championship was held in
Armavir town, Armenia, devoted to the memory of Karabakh war hero
Vardan Bakhshyan. The event was organized by SHINKYOKUSHIN Federation
of Armenia. The Federation team under guidance of Sensei Karen Zhamkochyan
participated in competition received a Special Cup as prize-winner
of Team contest.

MOSCOW
From October 16 to 20, 2008 Sensei Karen Zhamkochyan visited Moscow.
In ASHIHARA Budaokai Hall guided by Oganes Anayan, Sensei Karen
conducted a seminar on KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE, its basic techniques
and technique kumite.
Also Sensei Karen mastered Iaido in Moscow at Sensei Taron Avakimyants.
Sensei Taron Avakimyants holds 5 Dan in Karatae, 4 Dan in Iaido
and 3 Dan in Kendo. For 4 days Sensei Karen under supervision of
Sensei Taron Avakinyants studied the techniques of wielding the
Samurai sword and Sitei kata Iaido.

ASHIHARA
SEMINAR
On request of Sensei Karen Zhamkochyan an introductive
seminar on basic techniques of Ashihara Karate was provided in Yerevan
by Sensei Oganes Anayan on September 13, 2008. The seminar mainly
introduced the techniques of sparring. Sensei Anayan is the prize-winner
of numerous championships of Russia and the winner of Moscow Open
Cup. He represents the Russian Federation of Knockdown Karate.

CAUCASUS CHAMPIONSHIP
The Regular Championship of Caucasus with nearly
100 participants from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia took place
in Tbilisi. The Armenian national team was presented by 7 sportsmen
and won the 2nd Prize in Team contest. All Armenian team
members became prize winners.
Ashot Stepanyan was awarded a Cup for best techniques.
Erik Karapetyan, Hayk Karapetyan and Ashot Stepanyan won First Prize.
Hayk Vardumyan won Second Prize.
Alik Hakobyan, Eduard Petrosyan and Arman Garoyan won Third Prize.

EXAMINATION
Sensei Karen Zhamkochyan conducted from 10 to 3
Kyu Test examinations. For about 60 students were attested during
the test. The Federation provides KYU Test examinations biannually
(once in 6 months) and it provides DAN Tests once a year.

ARMENIA
CHAMPIONSHIP
The 6th Open Championship of Armenia for Oyama
KYOKUSHIN Karate was held in Yerevan, Armenia on April 6, 2008 (chief
of Federation - Karen Zhamkochyan).
Students within 8-15 years age category took part in competition.
A national team from Georgia under the guidance of Sensei Nodari
Kvanchiani guested on event and participated in championship. The
total number of participants reached 100.

5th
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
08.12.2007, LVOV, UKRAINE National teams
from 24 countries participated in Championship of Europe in Lvov,
Ukraine. For the first time the Armenia national team took part
in European Championship.
Sensei Karen Zhamkochyan and Ashot Soghomonyan participated in the
international judicial seminar.
On the following day Kancho Matsushima and John Taylor conducted
a Dan Test. From Armenia Ashot Soghomonyan took the Test and successfully
passed the exam for 2nd Dan.
